Pollença Market
Pollença’s weekly market is one of the most vibrant in Mallorca and takes place every Sunday morning in and around the Plaza Mayor.
Here you can find fresh products such as fruits, vegetables, sausages and cheeses, being popular the Mahonese cheese and the Mallorcan sobrasada. In addition to food, the market offers handicrafts such as pottery, palm basketry and embroidered textiles, typical of the island. A curiosity is that the locals usually do their shopping early, while visitors enjoy the atmosphere later in the afternoon, often accompanied by live music.
There is no shortage of flower, clothing and handicraft stalls, perfect for an authentic souvenir of the island. The atmosphere is lively, with local musicians filling the air with Mediterranean melodies, and the terraces of the bars offer the ideal place to enjoy a coffee while watching life go by.
Pollença’s market has roots going back centuries, when local farmers and traders exchanged their produce. Today, it is a meeting place for residents and tourists alike.
Port of Pollença
Puerto de Pollença, or “Port de Pollença”, is a place that captures the essence of the Mediterranean. This port, originally a small fishing village, has become an elegant tourist destination that retains its authenticity. Its promenade, lined with pine trees and restaurants with terraces, offers spectacular views of the bay. It is ideal for strolling at sunset or enjoying a seaside dinner with dishes such as lobster stew or fresh fish. In addition, the port is a starting point for water activities such as paddle surfing, sailing and boat trips, including visits to the impressive Cala Boquer.
Puerto de Pollença, developed in the early 20th century as a small fishing port, was popularized as a tourist destination by British artists and writers who came attracted by the calm and beauty of the place. It highlights its Paseo de los Pinos, a path along the bay, where pine trees provide shade along the beach.
An interesting fact is that this port was an important strategic point during the Spanish Civil War, and historical vestiges can still be seen nearby. Today, it is known for its restaurants offering traditional Mallorcan cuisine.
Pollença Beach
Pollença Beach, known as “Platja del Port de Pollença”, is one of the most peaceful and welcoming beaches in Mallorca. Its fine sand and crystal clear, shallow waters make it an ideal place for families with children. In addition, the beach has excellent services, such as sunbeds, umbrellas and a variety of water sports, from kayaking to windsurfing. Visitors can enjoy long walks along the coast thanks to the Paseo de los Pinos, a shaded pedestrian walkway with spectacular views of the sea and the mountains of the Sierra de Tramuntana.
Its location within the bay protects swimmers from strong waves, making it one of the safest beaches in Mallorca. Its services include children’s playgrounds, water sports equipment rental and a promenade full of cafes and stores. A curiosity is that from this beach you can see llaüt boats, traditional Mallorcan boats that are still used for fishing or sightseeing tours.
