Other white grapes include <strong>Macabeo<\/strong>, <strong>Moscatel<\/strong> (both small-grain and Alexandria), <strong>Gir\u00f3 Ros<\/strong>, <strong>Viognier<\/strong>, <strong>Parellada<\/strong> and <strong>Riesling<\/strong>, which together enrich the profile of the region&#8217;s white wines with a palette of aromas and flavors ranging from floral to citrus and mineral.<\/p><h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Red_varieties\"><\/span>Red varieties<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3><p>As for the <strong>red varieties<\/strong>, <strong>Cabernet Sauvignon<\/strong> and <strong>Merlot<\/strong> lead in extension, with 81.4 and 84.9 hectares respectively, contributing structure, color and complexity to the wines.<\/p><p>The <strong>Callet<\/strong>, with 52.2 hectares, is the most emblematic indigenous red variety, known for its ability to produce medium-bodied reds with a unique character and distinctive aromas. <strong>Syrah<\/strong>, <strong>Manto Negro<\/strong>, <strong>Tempranillo<\/strong>, <strong>Fogoneu<\/strong>, <strong>Gorgollassa<\/strong>, <strong>Monastrell<\/strong>, and <strong>Pinot Noir<\/strong> complement the red palette, each contributing their particular qualities, from soft tannins to spicy and fruity notes.<\/p><p>Production at <strong>Pla i Llevant<\/strong> is not limited to the simple production of white, ros\u00e9 and red wines; it also experiments with varieties and techniques to expand the horizon of winemaking possibilities.
